End-of-Life Boat Removal & Recycling
- Date: October 2025
- Location: Oare, Faversham, Kent
- Project Type: Boat Removal, Specialist Clearance & Recycling
About this Project
Cage Waste Removal Limited was tasked with the removal and responsible disposal of an end-of-life leisure boat located in Oare, near Faversham, Kent.
Unlike a conventional waste clearance, removing a complete boat required careful planning and specialist lifting and transport arrangements due to the vessel’s size, weight and location.
The objective was not simply to remove the unwanted boat, but to ensure it was safely transported to an appropriate waste facility where it could be dismantled and its component materials separated for recovery, recycling and responsible disposal wherever possible.
Planning the Boat Removal
Removing a complete end-of-life boat presented a different challenge to the property, commercial and general waste clearances our team regularly undertakes across Kent.
The size and weight of the vessel meant it could not simply be loaded onto one of our standard waste collection vehicles. Instead, the project required specialist lifting equipment and suitable transportation to remove the boat safely and intact.
Our team coordinated the removal process from the initial collection through to transportation and final waste processing, providing the client with a single point of contact throughout the project.
Specialist Lifting & Transportation
A specialist HIAB vehicle was arranged to safely lift and transport the complete vessel from its location in Oare.
Heavy-duty lifting straps were carefully positioned around the hull before the boat was raised from the ground and loaded onto the vehicle for transportation.
Using specialist lifting equipment allowed the end-of-life boat to be removed intact, avoiding the need to dismantle or break apart the vessel at its original location and providing a safe and efficient method of removal.
Dismantling the Boat
Once transported to the waste facility, the boat could be mechanically dismantled in a controlled environment.
The upper structure was progressively removed from the hull before the remaining vessel was broken down into smaller, more manageable sections.
Rather than treating the complete boat as a single waste item, dismantling it allowed the different materials and components to be identified and separated into the appropriate waste streams wherever practicable.
Recycling & Responsible Disposal
Following dismantling, the separated materials could be processed through the appropriate waste streams for recycling, recovery or final disposal.
This is an important part of specialist boat disposal. Removing an unwanted vessel is only the first stage; consideration also needs to be given to what happens to the materials once the boat reaches the end of its useful life.
By coordinating the lifting, transportation, dismantling and waste processing, we were able to provide a complete solution for the responsible removal and disposal of the vessel.
